Weak facets near the surface on any slope holding snow. In areas where these facets are capped by thin wind or sun crusts, we got remarkably clean, sudden shears, which is indicative of how reactive these layers will be under a slab. We spotted over a dozen recent wet loose avalanches originating from steep, sunny slopes at upper elevations in GNP, mostly D1-1.5 in size, and we triggered a D1 dry loose on a shady aspect.
Up the West Ridge of Mt. Stanton, descended into the NE bowl and returned via the same route.
On SE to SW aspects from a number of peaks in GNP. Uncertain of timing on these; ran sometime during our recent sunny weather this past week.
