Avalanche fatality in Montana's Madison Range

We are sad to report Montana's first avalanche fatality of the season occurred on Imp Peak in the southern Madison Range on October 7, 2017.  Two skiers were approaching the north couloir when they triggered the avalanche. Both were caught, one fully buried and one partial. The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center visited the accident site and will be providing additional information on their website: www.mtavalanche.com. We send our sincere condolences.
