Tony Willits has been an Avalanche Advisor for the Flathead Forest since 2000. Tony attended his first avalanche course in Wilson, Wyoming in 1976. Tony has successfully completed courses at the American Avalanche Institute, Canadian Avalanche Association, and attended International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW) since 2004. Tony’s background and training varied from a brief stay at Grand Targhee as a part time professional ski patroller in 1976 to training and working with Stan Bones. With over 25 years of training and study, Tony continues to teach avalanche classes and provide field observations for the Flathead Avalanche Center.
